Innovative motors with micrometric precision

PhiDrive’s experience in the piezoelectric motor sector has allowed the creation of an innovative motor that exploits the micrometric deformation of piezoelectric stacks to achieve infinite rotary or linear motion. Our goal is to include these rotary actuators in key equipment and mechanisms used in spacecraft

  • Extremely high precision
  • Completely oil/lubricant free motor components
  • Energy savings, thanks to the absence of electrical alimentation in stationary conditions
  • High torque/mass ratio
  • Absence of gears, meaning no backlash motion
  • No need for mechanical brakes
  • Normally blocked with a slipping force up to 3 times greater than the actuating force

Our technology is also suitable for other sectors and markets, as PhiDrive can modify it according to customer needs.

Precision Rotation

PhiDrive features high-precision rotation stages that can form more complex combinations such as:

  • Multi-axis positioning systems
  • Multi-rotating positioning systems
  • Gimbals

Position stages are set by motorized systems which allow it to respond to the requirements imposed by precision and flexibility. These rotary stages can also be used in optical and photonic applications, where they position, for example, lenses or optical fibers with resolution of nm and nrad with excellent repeatability. These performances place PhiDrive as the leader in the field of high precision rotary stage.

Microgrippers Piezoelectric Grippers for Micro Manipulation

Microgripper

Microgripper

The piezoelectric grippers for micro manipulation

PhiDrive has been working for several years in the creation of industrial products dedicated to the micromanipulation of objects up to 20 microns.

GRIPHI microgrippers are mechanical components dedicated to gripping and manipulating very small objects, lenses and fiber optic sensors. They are expressly designed for industrial use, tested for 40 million cycles.

  • Gripping objects up to 20 microns
  • Object positioning accuracy of approximately one tenth of a micron
  • Measurement of the opening of the microgripper
  • Grippers std. stroke: up to 1,4 mm
  • Clamping force: up to 4 N
  • Force closed-loop control & Touch sensor available
  • Dedicated electronics
  • Customizable shape and performance

The use of robots makes assembly lines highly reconfigurable and fast. If we add our PHI-W wrist system, the robot’s degree of precision increases. The union between robot and PHI-W gives microcomponent assembly lines high performance characteristics.

Furthermore, we specialize in vision systems that allow to close the feedback loops of the PHI-W wrist system and robots.

Mechanics excellent and robust

The COR product family is created by the union of Piezoelectric and Flexure technology. Piezo technology optimizes positioning and was designed with nm or nrad precision. Flexure technology makes the mechanics excellent and robust and COR devices have no blacklash and do not require the use of lubricants.

Hybrid solutions are also proposed given by the combination of the very high resolution of a flexure namometric positioning stage combined with a conventional positioning stage characterized by very large strokes.

The many years of experience of Phidrive engineers is focused on achieving the best performance by optimizing travel range, dynamics and design, in fact installation spaces are often limited. All manufacturing steps are carried out laboratory.
