Phi Drive’s FEM model of pressurized gaskets was published on Valve World

A new model developed by Phi Drive for pressurized gaskets was published on the Valve World magazine.
The article, written by Phi Drive together with Esa S.r.l., highlights the FEM approach applied to study pressurized gaskets. By simulating the operational conditions experienced by gaskets, which include both mechanical and thermal loads, this model allows for a better design of the gaskets and their grooves.

Thanks to this research, designers requiring the best gaskets for every scenario can rely on an additional tool.

The choice of a proper model to describe PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), the material which constitutes the gaskets of interest, makes it possible to avoid those conditions where sealing does not work.

Phi Drive performed the analysis at different pressures and with different gaskets, focusing on stresses and strain along the whole section.
